Editorial Policy

From time to time, you may wonder where our content comes from, how we decide on articles and who writes them.  Those are all good things to think about.

Almost all of our words come from the dictionary. Occasionally we make one up, but you’ll be able to tell when that happens. We sometimes exaggerate  for humor’s sake or to make a point.  But aside from coining a word or humorous exaggeration now and then, we do not make up anything else.

Our editors, who assign articles to writers, pick all of our editorial material. They are scrupulous, smart people with lots of integrity, and they also know how to punctuate.

Our content online, in print and at events comes from three sources – our editorial staff, our audience and our advertisers.  Because we want to keep your trust and confidence and never mislead or confuse you, we’ve created three icons that explain which source created or contributed to each article.  These icons are

Most of our articles are written by our very talented editorial staff or free-lance writers and you will find an at the end of them to prove it. We like it very much when our smart, savvy users contribute ideas or an entire article too.  A  follows those articles.

We also offer, under very strict rules, “sponsored” material. That is copy for which an advertiser has paid us to produce or feature. We need to stay in business, but our commitment to you is that we will clearly label advertiser paid or requested copy as “sponsored.” Those articles end with a .

We also write about the many not-for-profit agencies and charities because we believe they, like us, want to Make It Better for the communities we both serve and for the world.

In case you are wondering, we DO NOT sell our subscription lists. We're committed to guarding your privacy.
