(Buffalo Grove Park District, Buffalo Grove, IL) —The Buffalo Grove Park District’s BG Singers will be hosting A Night of Wishes, a benefit performance for Make-A-Wish® Illinois, on Thursday, September 14 at 6:30 pm at the Buffalo Grove Park District Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove. The Singers selected Make-A-Wish Illinois as the beneficiary of this year’s fundraising efforts in honor of the group’s 25th Anniversary Show, aptly titled “Wish.”
The benefit concert will feature a special appearance by Buffalo Grove native Max Quinlan and his wife Siri Howard Quinlan. Max has performed on Broadway, in national tours, concerts and on many regional stages. Highlights include Les Misérables (2014 Original Broadway Cast), Evita National Tour (Che), the 25th Anniversary National Tour of Les Misérables (Marius), a Jeff Award-winning performance in Light in the Piazza (Fabrizio) at the Marriott Theater in Lincolnshire, and a Broadway World-winning performance in Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus) at Theater at the Center.
Siri’s credits have spanned Broadway, national tours, regional theaters, concerts, operas and the USO. Highlights include the 25th Anniversary National Tour of Les Misérables (Cosette), National Tours of Parade and The Sound of Music, and numerous leading roles in regional productions.
Linda Rosen, director and creative mainstay of the BG Singers, notes, “Twenty-five years is quite a milestone for a community choral group; and, the opportunity to celebrate this achievement by partnering with Make-A-Wish is incredibly gratifying to all involved. Having Max, who is the son of Barbara Quinlan, a BG Singer for all of our 25 years, perform along with his talented wife Siri is very exciting. It is also special for the greater community, as Max began his theater career at the age of five in a Buffalo Grove Park District production.”
“As a grassroots organization, community members are an integral part of making sure that we can reach every eligible child with a wish,” said Stephanie Springs, Chief Executive Officer with Make-A-Wish Illinois.” The generous people who organize and attend events on behalf of Make-A-Wish can feel really good about bringing hope, strength and joy to seriously ill Illinois children.”
The benefit event has also received financial support from members of the local business community, with sponsorship from Wealth Financial Group and Sanders Court Pediatrics and refreshments donated by many local restaurants.
Donations to attend A Night of Wishes are $35 in advance or $40 at the door, and can be purchased by visiting bgsingers.org. All proceeds will directly benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois. If unable to attend the event, please consider a donation in honor of the BG Singers to help grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The BG Singers will also perform their 25th Anniversary Show “Wish” on Friday, September 15 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, September 16 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, September 17 at 3 pm at the Buffalo Park District Community Arts Center.
