Holiday Concert: All (Mostly) Strings

December 10, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Highland Park Strings welcome Highland Park native Steven Honigberg to the stage with daughter Lily Honigberg, performing on cello and violin, respectively. The father is currently a member of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. and formerly music director of the Bronfman Series in Sun Valley, Idaho. The younger Honigberg’s accolades include ongoing study at the New England Conservatory of Music and recognition as winner of the New England Conservatory Honors Ensemble Award with her pan-Celtic band, Night Tree.
For the holiday concert, Lily will perform “Spring” from the Four Seasons. Steven will play Haydn’s Concerto in D Major. The Strings will add two pieces by Italian composers: the “Adagio” by Albinoni and the “Concerto for Strings” by the Godfather composer, Nino Rota. Maestro Robert Hasty, PhD, serves as principal conductor.
The entire family is also welcome to attend a 2 p.m. preconcert conversation, “The Art of Listening to Today’s Concert,” presented by Stephanie Ettelson in the same location at no charge.
