Make It Better's "A North Shore Night of Clubbing," held on Sept. 17 at Allgauer's on the Riverfront in the Hilton Chicago/Northbrook, was a celebration of leadership and giving back, and a night of rollicking good time for women's clubs and service organizations from around the North Shore.
The inaugural "Make It Better—North Shore Woman of Distinction Service Award 2009" was presented at the event to Kay Muller of Evanston, founder of the Ted Fund (in honor of her son, Ted Muller), which provides 3-year summer camp scholarships to Evanston youth who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend summer camp.
More than 200 attendees enjoyed cocktails hor d'oeuvres and live entertainment, including a performance by comedienne and Make It Better columnist Julie Saltzman, vocalist Renee Black of Evanston, and rhythm and blues band J.B. and Friends. The event was also a celebration of Make It Better—North Shore's new Web site and upcoming monthly print magazine.
