Sketchbook Brewery's Tap Room

Local brewery Sketchbook opened in Evanston in late 2014, brewing up small-batch craft beers and selling them by the growler. They’ve been so successful — both in retail and wholesale — that they have just opened a brand spanking new street-front tap room on Chicago Avenue, just down the street from the brewery, and conveniently located across from the Main Street purple line and Metra stations, in case you enjoy the beer a little too much.

The Sketchbook team actually designed the Tap Room as a big DIY project, using wood repurposed from old bowling alleys for the bar and table tops, and flooring sourced from the Evanston ReBuilding Warehouse.

There will be a variety of their beers available on tap (IPA lovers will dig the Orange Door, and I loved the Snowy Owl, a rye amber ale), free Wi-Fi (work while you drink!) and a light food menu of sandwiches and brownies from nearby Hewn Bakery, plus a friendly bring-your-own-food policy. Drafts run $2 for a taster, $4 for a half and $6 for a full glass, $8 for flights of four beers, $8 to fill a howler (32 oz.) and $15 to fill a growler (64 oz.).
