This weekend, celebrate Chicago-style hot dogs, tour a favorite local brewery, dance the night away at Navy Pier, watch a movie under the stars with the entire family, or fly (and create!) a kite at Chicago Botanic Garden.
This year’s Chicago Hot Dog Fest, presented by the Chicago History Museum, is celebrating Vienna Beef’s 125th anniversary with live music, family activities, a speakers’ stage, and delicious takes on the classic Chicago hot dog from vendors like Chicago’s Dog House, Edzo’s, and Pinstripes.
Go behind the scenes of Best of 2018 winner Sketchbook Brewing Co. with this tour that includes free samples and a Sketchbook glass to take home. The brewery will also be on hand at Taste Food and Wine’s beer tasting on Aug. 11.
Navy Pier is partnering with the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance to host this free event featuring Latin American and Caribbean dance and music.
Watch “The Incredibles” on the Museum of Science and Industry’s front lawn as you munch on free popcorn (first come, first served), enjoy refreshments available for purchase, and groove to music from iHeart Radio. And be sure to explore all of the museum’s exhibits, including “The Science Behind Pixar,” before the showing.
Visit Chicago Botanic Garden this weekend to enjoy stunt-kite performances, a kite-making workshop, ice cream and lunch (available for purchase), and more.
